A woman who was shot as President Donald Trump’s supporters invaded the US Capitol on Wednesday has died, a Washington police spokeswoman said.
Alaina Gertz offered no details on who the woman was or the circumstances of the shooting, which is now under investigation by the metropolitan police.
Unverified videos appear to show a woman who was part of the protests on the floor inside the Capitol and bleeding after gunfire erupted momentarily.
The woman was reportedly shot on the neck amid the violence.

According to CNN, multiple police officers have been injured with at least one transported to the hospital.
The building has been put under lockdown, and the entire city on a 6pm curfew, after protesters broke through a barrier towards the building.
Trump has called for peace and support for law enforcement.
“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence!” the president tweeted.
“Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”
Vice President Pence called for rioters to leave the Capitol building: “The violence and destruction taking place at the US Capitol Must Stop and it Must Stop Now.”
The entire DC National Guard has been activated by the Department of Defense to contain the violence.
Chief Pentagon spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman, said: “The D.C. Guard has been mobilized to provide support to federal law enforcement in the District. Acting Secretary Miller has been in contact with Congressional leadership, and Secretary McCarthy has been working with the D.C. government. The law enforcement response will be led by the Department of Justice.”
