The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Johnson Urama of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, announced the results at INEC’s state collation center in Lokoja, the state capital, on Sunday night.

Urama reported that APC’s Ododo polled 446,237, while his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), polled 259,052 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate received 46,362 votes, and Hon. Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Party (ADP) secured 21,819 votes.

He also noted that the number of canceled votes in areas where the election did not take place was 16,247 and could not substantially affect the outcome of the result.

In a previous report, Newstarmac revealed that INEC has announced plans to conduct fresh elections on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the affected polling units following the suspension of elections in some locations in Kogi State, where result sheets were already filled before the commencement of voting.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the INEC National Commissioner & Member of the Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He mentioned that the fresh polls would be held in 59 polling units in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state.

However, Kudu Haruna emphasized that the decision to hold the fresh elections is subject to the Returning Officer’s determination of the application of the Margin of Lead Principle.
