Vinicius Jnr’s two goals has helped Real Madrid defeat Liverpool in the first leg of the UEFA Champions league quarter final.

The 20-year old has become the second youngest scorer for Real Madrid in a Champions League knockout match, after Raul scored against Juventus in March 1996 when he was 18.

The sluggish start of the Reds earned him his first goal, although Mo Salah tried turning things around after scoring his only goal of the match but Vincius rendered them helpless by netting his second goal, earning the Real a 3-1.

Jurgen Klopp while expressing his dissatisfaction at his team, said “We just didn’t play good enough football to cause Real Madrid more problems. We made it too easy for them.”

Klopp added that “the only good thing I can say, apart from the goal, is it’s only the first half of the tie. We didn’t deserve a lot more but that one goal and the second half was OK. It gives us a lifeline.”

Meanwhile, Phil Foden has handed Man City a late winner goal to seal his team’s victory over Dortmund in the first leg.

Although Marco Reus with the assist of Erling Haaland equalised at six minutes left, ruling out Kevin De Bruyne’s first-half opener for City.

Reus, having made history by scoring his 18th goal which made him Dortmund’s all-time leading Champions League scorer was unable to stop Foden’s late strike, which led to BVB 2-1 defeat.

Real’s victory has therefore left the red a mountain to climb in the return leg at an empty Anfield, while Dortmund battle to qualify for the semi-finals on 14 April.
