The All Progressives Congress (APC) has blamed the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) of making attempts to disintegrate the APC.
This is coming at the heels of the likes of the Kaduna state Governor Mallan Nasiru El Rufai and others whose posters have been spotted indicating interest to vie for the seat of the President in 2023.
The spoke man of the APC Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu told journalists in Abuja that..
“We are not engaging in anyother activity about 2023 elections and wherever you see such (posters) you can be sure they are from mischief-makers”.
He further said “We know it is part of the strategy of the PDP to continue to take actions to cause distractions so that the governing party will not focus on anything that is important to the people of Nigeria.”
“Neither Tinubu, Oshiomhole, El-Rufai or his party, APC, have made any comments on a successor plan for President Buhari”.
You will be recalled that the latest posters making rounds were those of the national leader of the party Bola Tinubu, the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole and the kaduna state governor Mallam Nasiru Elrufai indicating that the trio are all eyeing the seat of President Bubari in 2023.
President Muhammadu Buhari in August, 2019 had told newsmen that he will not name a preferred successor to take the mantle in 2023, and advised those who would like to succeed him to work hard to ensure they win the hearts of Nigerians as he did in the three previous occasions he contested.
The president had said..
“Succession, to me this is very funny, because if I did find anybody I will create more problems for him or her. Let those who want to be President try as much as I did”.
Mr Onilu said that the party is seriously engrossed into providing good governance and no one should take such rumours serious.
