Liverpool thrashed Crystal Palace 7-0 at the Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points.

Takumi Minamino opened scoring for the visitors in the third minute, his first Premier League goal for Liverpool.

Senegal forward Sadio Mane doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 25th minute, netting with a smooth finish.

Roberto Firmimo added a third before half time after a quick counter attack , while Jordan Henderson curled a superb effort into the back of the net in the seventh minute after the break.

Firmimo netted his second of the game in the 68th minute, while substitute Mohamed Salah scored twice to the scoreline more emphatic.

The Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson  had this to say after the match.

“It was coming, I felt, because over the last few games we’ve had some chances and we haven’t taken them and it’s cost us at times,” Henderson told BT Sport.

“But today we managed to finish our chances, which is always important in football.”

As the midfielder continued his assessment, he rightly acknowledged that despite the result, the league leaders were “sloppy at times.”

Liverpool’s 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace on Saturday means Jurgen Klopp has now won more top-flight games than any other Reds boss in the Premier League era.
