In another compelling Crime Story, the Lagos State Police Command is doing all in its powers to ensure a couple are sent to jail for attempting to sell their toddler a two year old.
The couple, aged 22 and 28, (name withheld) were arrested while attempting to sell the boy on Tuesday to raise money for their planned travel and relocation to Canada.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesman confirmed the incident to Agency News.
He said:
Isolo Divisional Police Officer, DPO, received information that a couple went to Isolo General Hospital on Tuesday, at about 2.45 p.m., and declared their intention to sell their son.
Following the information, operatives from the division swiftly moved to the hospital.
The baby’s age is two, and he has been rescued. Upon interrogation, the couple confessed that they decided to sell the two years old baby to fund the man traveling to Canada for a greener pasture.
The police is further investigating what seem to be a clean case needing no further investigation
