One of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup play-offs, Plateau United Football Club of Jos has accused the authorities of the MKO Abiola Stadium , Abuja for giving its opponents , Al-Akhder of Libya the luxury of training in one of the training pitches which was denied the team.
According to a strong worded statement by the Media Officer of the Club, Albert Dakup, Plateau United views this action as a calculated attempt to sabotage the efforts of the team in their quest to qualify for the group stage of the competition.
The statement wondered how a Club flying Nigeria’s flag in the continent will be denied access to the use of a training facility in its own country which they were denied , only to be given the same facility to its opponents in ahead of a crucial match of this magnitude.
The Club alleged that the action of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja authorities is a clear case of sabotage aimed at frustrating the efforts of Plateau United and the Plateau State Government sponsors of the team.

“When we played Esperance in Tunisia we were denied use of the Olympique Stade de Rades by the Tunisian authorities. The same thing happened to us when we played USM in Algeria in 2018, Why is Nigeria playing the African big brother role that is detrimental to its aspirations, the statement queried.
” Only early this month, Rivers United of Portharcourt were shabbily treated by Wydad Casablanca of Morocco to the extent that the stadium light was switched off while they were training at the match venue aside from other humiliating treatment. Is it that the authorities in Nigeria are not aware of that?
” North Africans are notorious for metting out inhuman treatment to other fellow Africans that play them in their backyard , why is Nigeria treating them nicely as a reciprocative gesture? All Nigerian Clubs that played in the continent have one or two tales of woes to butress this point.
It added that though, the team is not deterred by the actions of the MKO Abiola Stadium authorities, but all what Plateau United is asking for is fair treatment as a representatives of the country in the CAF inter Club Competition.
The statement urged the authorities concern to get to the bottom of this matter and all those responsible for this ignoble act be made to face the repercussions of their actions.
