…donates laptops to secondary schools
The Ekiti State Government has launched the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment,(AGILE) project to enhance adolescent girls’ education in the state.

The official launch of the AGILE project was made by wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, in Ado-Ekiti.
According to her, the project is aimed at improving secondary education for adolescents with a special focus on girl child education and supporting the efforts of the state government towards enhancing the academic, digital and life skills of adolescents in the state.

The Governor’s wife, while acknowledging the advocacy and awareness campaign of the project, disclosed that no fewer than 100 secondary schools in the state would receive laptops and other intervention projects.
“I want to reiterate that AGILE Project is designed to respond to the challenges that constrained Adolescent girls in completing secondary education. I’m glad that the project is supporting the state efforts to enhance the academic, digital and life skills of our adolescent which gives the assurance that we are grooming a mass of adequately equipped youths who are globally ready.
“Today, 910 laptops will be distributed to 35 secondary schools and additional 1,690 will be distributed to 65 secondary schools in the next two months.
“I must acknowledge the advocacy and awareness campaign of my office and that of the AGILE Project have immensely improved the perception of some members of our society towards the girl-child education. I therefore exercise the need for everyone to play an active role in the implementation of the AGILE Project.” She said.
She further noted that the project will provide courtesy of the WorldBank, a total sum of twenty-five million US dollars to Ekiti state for the renovation of dilapidated buildings in public secondary schools, procurement of computers, provision of safe spaces in schools, and training…of teachers and students in digital and life skills.
In the same vein, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye enjoined AGILE to carry out advocacy on unwanted teenage pregnancy among girls while urging the students to take good advantage of the programme.
“I enjoined AGILE to carry out serious advocacy on unwanted teenage pregnancy among our girls. I implore our secondary schools girls to take good advantage of what this programme offers.
“I urge you to utilise the laptops for learning. Remember, we are looking at you with high expectation as our future leaders.” she said.
