A medical report submitted to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, by the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) has declared Abdulrasheed Maina fit for trial.
The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang had earlier ordered a medical examination of the defendant by the medical director of the Nigerian Correctional Services after Maina through his counsel, Esther Uzoma, had complained of being ill.
The medical examination reported that Maina’s health is well under control and he can stand trial.
However his counsel argued that the medical record was not submitted to her and advised the court to disregard the report.
The court ignored the plea.
Maina’s counsel last Thursday told a Federal High Court in Abuja that his client was bleeding during the trial.
The counsel stated that her client could not stand trial while the issue of his health status was still a question before the court.
Maina was on October 25, arraigned alongside a firm, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was charged with 12 counts bordering on money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud.
