There was heavy tension in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday as gunmen invaded and set the Council Secretariat located in Ogidi ablaze.

According to report, the criminal gang early in the morning burnt down the Council and the Magistrate court in the state.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that they also razed down the office of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.
It further learned that security personnel involving the State Police Command, moved quickly and with the help of the residents, was able to prevent the facilities from being gutted down completely by the inferno.

But the chunk of the building and the operational vehicles parked in the premises where seriously affected.
While confirming the incident, the The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Toochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said no human life was lost but added that the police foiled the wicked intention of the gunmen.
He stated that the men of the Command moved into the scene swfitly to prevent the inferno from causing more havoc.
He said the police were able to contain the situation and save the buildings from being completely burnt down.
“Yes, there was an attack at the council secretariat in the early hours of Monday and our men were quickly drafted to the scene.
“This thing happened around 2 am. It was the combined efforts of operatives of the command and community members that saved some of the properties.
“Right now, the fire has been put off, and calm restored to the area.” he said.
