At least 424 Nigerians who were stranded in Saudi Arabia arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Friday.

Their arrival came a day after 384 others came back from the same nation.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the latest batch of returnees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, via Saudi Air Flight at about 11:58 am on Friday.

The commission said the returnees will join the 384 returnees that arrived on Thursday and are currently being quarantined at the Federal Capital Territory Hajj camp for 14 days in line with the COVID-19 protocols by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

NiDCOM CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, appealed to Nigerians to desist from illegal migration.

The evacuation of the stranded Nigerians followed a viral video in which they called for help.

The videos showed bodies – wrapped in black polythene bags – lying on the floor in a packed room with a voice narrating that they have been stranded for more than seven months.
