Teachers in some states across the Nigerian federation may withdraw their services due to poor remuneration being paid to them by their state Governments.
The President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, DR Nasir Idris Stated this during the 2021 WORLD TEACHERS DAY celebration held in Abuja.

He says the refusal by some state governments to implement the new minimum wage is putting teachers in those states under difficulties despite the sacrifices teachers make especially in the face of the pandemic.
The NUT boss threatened to call on its members in such states to withdraw their services should they fail to implement the new national minimum wage.
The teacher’s leadership also decried the harsh economic climate as well as the unbearable standard of living across the country.
According to the union the present salaries being paid to teachers can no longer sustain the them as they would be forced to shutdown academic activities if something urgent is not done to ameliorate their present condition.
