Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Surpass 140,000 As Death Toll Rises To 1,673

Nigeria has now recorded a total of 140,391 cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Monday night via Twitter.

According to the centre, the tests of 643 suspected cases came back positive.

While 1,110 patients were discharged, 6 new fatalities were recorded.

The NCDC said the discharges included 744 community recoveries in Lagos State, 100 in Rivers State, 78 in Plateau State, 72 in Kaduna State and 2 in Benue State managed in line with guidelines.

18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded new cases on Monday.

Oyo State recorded the highest new cases with 88, followed by Lagos with 86 cases.

Also, Rivers recorded 55 new cases while Edo State reported 54 fresh cases.

Others are Akwa Ibom (53), Adamawa (52), Plateau (45), Kaduna (41), FCT (34), Kwara (27), Benue (20), Kano (19), Delta (18), Nasarawa (16), Niger (15), Bayelsa (11), Borno (5), Bauchi (2), and Sokoto (2).

So far, a total of 114,635 patients have been discharged following their recovery from COVID-19.

However, a total of 1,673 patients have lost their lives to the disease.

There are now 24,083 active cases across the country.
