Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases increased from 139,242 it was on Saturday to 139,748 on Sunday, indicating 506 new infections.
According to the NCDC’s data, the nation recorded 20 COVID-19 deaths, as a total of 968 patients recovered and were discharged from various isolation centres in the country.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in its daily update on Coronavirus via its official twitter page.
“Our discharges today include 360 community recoveries in Lagos State, 138 in Osun State, 121 in Plateau State, 89 in Imo State and 38 in Kano State managed in line with guidelines.”

Giving a breakdown of the fresh infections, the NCDC said Ondo State recorded the highest figure of the day with 90 infections, followed by Kwara State which reported 89 cases.
Others are; Rivers (53), Borno (45), Gombe (32), FCT (28), Imo (26), Ogun (25), Lagos (22), Kaduna (14), Kano (14), Edo (13), Osun (11), Cross River (10), Yobe (9), Ekiti (7), Kebbi (6), Nasarawa (6), Oyo (5), and Jigawa (1).

As of Sunday, 7th of January 2021, a total of 1,667 persons have lost their lives to the virus in Nigeria, while 113,525 patients recovered.
