The last may not have been heard on the controversial Nigeria High Commission Premises in Ghana where a building was demolished.
Osu clan Head has continued to stand his ground that the portion of the High Commission premises was an unlawful encroachment on their ancestral property.
Landed Property Documents were provided along with a lengthy statement to prove the ownership of the said land which the Clan head claims is not part of the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana.
The statement that accompanied the documents it provided reads in part:
My people, this is just another Nigerian s**m, this time under the guise of fake “diplomatic” cover.
And we know that Nigerians generally, have a reputation for arrogantly disregarding and flouting local laws.
Some people clearly have no idea what some Nigerians have been doing in Ghana for some years now, they go about forcefully and rampantly annexing lands in Ghana, without due process. In recent years, Nigerian gangster land-grabbers have made many false claims that the private properties they erect, belong to “the Nigeria High Commission.” This devious con is calculated to indemnify them from any prosecution by land owners and traditional authorities. Can any Ghanaian even attempt this in Nigeria?
Now, the facts of the case are simple:
1) The plot of land in question is NOT, and has never been, part of the Nigerian High Commission. It is situated next to a group of six apartments housing Nigerian High Commission staff. The Nigerian High Commissioner does not live there.
2) The said land belongs to the OSU Stool, which has title and ownership over it. The Nigerians already know that, but seek to annex it under false “diplomatic cover.”
3) The said land has NOT at any time been purchased or leased by anyone. That is why there has been no structure on it since 1960. According to the Lands Commission, it belongs to the Osu Stool, and nobody else.
4) *A private Nigerian developer has been trying to build what is said to be an entertainment center on the site, falsely claiming it’s a block of apartments for the High Commission.*
5) The owners of the land, the OSU Stool, have repeatedly issued a cease and desist order to this Nigerian. But in typical fashion, this has been arrogantly ignored, under the false claim of “diplomatic immunity”.
6) There is clearly some connivance in this skulduggery, by corrupt Nigerian High Commission officials.
7) There was a structure illegally started on the site, which was earlier demolished by the owners of the land.
8) *The Nigerian developer, without any documents or title whatsoever, brazenly proceeded* to illegally build the structure, falsely claiming “diplomatic immunity”.
9) *After several unheeded warnings, and blatant refusals by the Nigerian developer to meet them,* the OSU Traditional Council rightly demolished the building erected on its land.
10) *The crooked Nigerians are craftily presenting this as a High Commission property which has been demolished.* But nothing
could be further from the truth. It is simply a private Nigerian land grab.
