Niger State Police Command has disbursed over N64.7 million to families of policemen who died in active service between 2020 and 2021 in the state.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, the Niger state Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, said the cheques were for thirty different families of police personnel who died in active service in the state.
He stated,” this welfare gesture is an initiative of the Inspector General of Police “Group Life Assurance” geared towards improving the lives and capacity of the families left behind by these heroic officers who lost their lives in the line of duty”
Issuing the cheques to the next of kin of the deceaseds’ in the presence of family members, Kuryas thanked IGP for such the laudable initiative to provide succour to the families of the deceased personnel.

The commissioner also encouraged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the resources to ensure the better welfare of the families.
Some of the families expressed satisfaction, happiness and full of appreciation for the gesture of the Inspector General of Police, the Government and the Commissioner of Police for their efforts in ensuring bereaved families do not lack.
They assured that the resources will be well managed towards an improved standard of living for their families.
