Electric
The National electricity grid has collapsed for a fourth time this year to the dismay and ridicule of Nigeria as compared to other African countries.
On February 4, March 28, and April 14, 2024, the National grid collapsed in what seems a recurring decimal in the quest to get Nigeria working under the current administration.
The country is struggling to keep its economy from further collapse after President Tinubu implemented far reaching subsidy reforms believed to have damaged the economy beyound repairs.
Prices of food have quadrupled from the pre Tinubu administration to this time making the country a living hell with crime rate on the rise and youths joining the Shock wave Kenya protest on Monday.
BACK TO THE COLLAPSE GRID
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the blackout through a statement released on Saturday noting that the power outage is due to a system failure from the national grid.
It said, “Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 3:10 pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas.”
The DisCo added that it is working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised.
