Popular Nigerian Singer ‘Naira Marley’ has offered to lead a protest against the indiscriminate killings by the Nigeria Police Force’s much-criticised Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The controversial musician faced a barrage of criticism on Sunday hours after he tweeted that Nigerians only protest on Twitter.
He then said he was ready to lead a protest but expressed concern he might be locked up by the police.
“If y’all want me to lead D protest I will lead but just know that they will send me to kirikiri prison this time,” he wrote.
Naira Marley who has more frequently than most Nigerian singers in recent times clashed with the authorities further asked time and venue for the protest.
“’Protesting is never a disturbance of the peace. Corruption, injustice, war and intimidation are disturbances of the peace’. Peaceful protest. Peaceful revolution,” he added.
Wizkid had also called for action against SARS after video of the shooting of a young man in front of a hotel in Ughelli, Delta State went viral on Saturday.
The shooting was alleged to have been carried out by SARS officials.
