Milton Glaser, the groundbreaking graphic designer who designed “I (HEART) NY,” has died Friday, his 91st birthday.
The cause was a stroke and Glaser had also had renal failure, his wife, Shirley Glaser told reporters.
In posters, logos, advertisements and book covers, Glaser’s ideas captured the spirit of the 1960s with a few simple colors and shapes.
Among other things, Glaser was a co-founder of New York Magazine and designed the emblem for the Brooklyn brewery.
Glaser was Born in the Bronx in 1929, he later became one of the world’s best-known and most celebrated designers from New York.
Glaser took the New yorkers by storm with just a simple ideology “I love New York” logo – consisting of black lettering and a red heart on a white background – on behalf of the state of New York in the 1970s. which gained him so much fame.
In 2009 he received the National Medal of Arts, the most important art award from the United States government.
