In an effort to boost milk production in the country, the Federal Government on Saturday commissioned a mini milk collection centre in Tassa Village in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano state.
Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono at the event, gave an assurance that the government will establish more centres in other States, in order to improve the economic wellbeing of the people, meet the demand for milk consumption and its daily intake requirements for citizens.
In his words, “Additional collection centres would be established in Gujungu and Ringim in Jigawa so as to get fresh and hygienic milk,”.
The mini collection centre, according to Nanono would alleviate the plight of milk sellers and improve their business.
”the federal government would establish Fulani settlements in order to settle the herdsmen in one place to eliminate herders/farmers clashes”.
Nanono said that the measure would also help to improve the business and economic life of the herders in the area.
The minister called on Fulanis in the state and other parts of the country to leave in peace with farmers and other people in their host communities.
“I recently visited Bauchi and Gombe states on the issue and the governments are committed to the project,” he said.
