Mercedes has announced that it will race in all-black cars for the 2020 Formula One [F1] season as it vows to fight racism and improve workplace diversity.
Silver had been the company’s colour scheme in racing since the 1930s.
Mercedes said the Black Lives Matter movement had “shone a searching light on how much we need new measures and actions in the fight against racism”.
Also Mercedes Team drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will also wear all-black overalls, as opposed to their usual all-white.
