Nollywood star Shan George in a recent interview has stated how she gets humiliated in market places.
The Nollywood sensation and veteran, who is also a singer, writer, film producer and a director, in a social media chat show opened up about some challenges she faces as an actress.
Shan George was asked in the interview, if been an actor makes her life any easier..
Shan’s Response:
”It has it’s up and downs just like every profession. One of the major downs is that people tend to assume that you are the way you are in movies and in real life.
Some people who have watched movies where you played a witch or a prostitute tend to see you the same way in real life, and look at you somehow.” she said.
”Market women” who sells tomato have stoned me, They stoned me tomato because there was a movie “rest in peace” where i played a character that deceived her girlfriend to the village and drowned her in the river, and then returned to the town pretending nothing had happened. That was because my character wanted the guy my friend was dating. So many people watched the movie.
Another down side is that people think you have money because they see you in big house, drive big cars in movies, so when they see you in real life, they expect you to be that wealthy, and start dashing them money”.
Shan George was born in Ediba a town in Abi Local Government area in Cross River state. In 1997 she featured in soap opera titled Winds of destiny. She is best known for her movies “Outkast” and “Welcome to Nollywood”.
Shine on Shan..
