Barcelona legend Lionel Messi arrived in Argentina ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru. The 33-year-old recorded his first brace for the Catalans despite coming on in the second half of their 5-2 win over Real Betis last weekend. It was also the first time he scored from an open play this term having scored all of his previous goals from the spot.
He has however shifted focus to helping his national team maintain their impressive run in the race to qualify for the global football showpiece two years from now.
Lionel Scaloni’s men take on Paraguay on Friday, November 13, and then travel to battle Peru five days later. According to Tycsports Messi arrived in his £12 million worth private jet alongside Angel Di María and Leandro Paredes as they become the first group of players to hit the camp. Other players are expected to join them so they can commence training in earnest and maintain their winning run, having already beaten Ecuador and Bolivia in their previous games.
