Just hours before Barcelona’s players return to training after a brief Christmas break, Clement Lenglet and Dani Alves have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Frenchman and Brazilian will, as a result, be unable to report for training on Tuesday afternoon and will miss Barcelona’s upcoming game against Real Mallorca.

Both players are, fortunately, in good health and currently isolating at their respective homes.
The news of Lenglet’s positive result had been reported by ARA, and Barcelona finally confirmed the news of both positive cases later on Monday evening.
Barcelona have done well so far this season with COVID-19 and have had very few cases of the virus at the club in 2021/22, with Sergi Roberto one of the standout exceptions.
It remains to be seen who will be available for the Mallorca game after training resumes on Tuesday, but it appears as though Xavi Hernandez will have close to a full group available with Lenglet thought to be the only new absentee.
Barcelona travel to the Balearic Islands to take on Mallorca at 20:00 local time on Sunday, January 2.
