Female disc jockey DJ Switch who was the only celebrity at the Lekki Shootings on Tuesday, October 20, has finally taken to social media to speak up against the protracted stories sold by the government that there were no fatalities at the #LekkiShootings.
The shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on Tuesday evening would have gone unseen but for the courage of DJ Switch.
On her Instagram page, the songwriter and disc jockey kept up a running commentary of the shootings even as bullets whizzed past her.
In a very emotional video she slammed the government for saying the videos that went viral online of people being shot at and killed were photoshopped and not real.
She said her biggest mistake during the shootings was to put the dead bodies at the feet of the soldiers, she also revealed that SARS officials stormed the scene after the soldier left and also began shooting at protesters.
Switch said the government shouldn’t minimise or insult the pain and grieve of brave Nigerians who were killed for expressing their civil right.
DJ Switch stated that before her phone went off that they had counted 7 dead people, and after her phone died the body count rose to at least 15. She discredited an earlier claim attributed to her saying 78 people were killed.
Switch in her video made the call to government to bring those who shot at peaceful protesters to book and not minimise the truth. While saying that she said the mistake she believed they made when people were shot at and killed was them picking up the bodies and dumping them at the feet of the soldiers which they picked up and threw in their vans.
Switch even showed video evidence of bullet shells that she picked at the protest grounds, she said at her and other protesters ran to pick up the bullet shells while the soldiers also tried picking them up so as to leave behind no traces of evidence of the massacre perpetrated.
