Kunle Afolayan, in an Instagram post on Thursday, has revealed that he has been administered a shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Movie director/producer disclosed that he took the vaccine on Wednesday.

Afolayan took the vaccine despite recent reports of severe side effects caused by the drug amongst those who have been vaccinated against the novel disease. Last Saturday, the reputation of the drug was further depleted when there was a report of one death caused by severe effects of the vaccine.

In the post, the showbiz veteran shared a picture of a certificate given to him after the exercise to certify that he has been vaccinated while stating that he is not “scared of death”.

“Don’t take it! Take it! It will allow them to monitor your movements! It will kill your organs! I have taken it! Got the covid vaccine yesterday. Iku to ba fe pami ko ma bo (the death that wants to kill me should come). Do have a blessed day,” he wrote.

Nigeria received its first batch of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on March 2nd.

However, there have been reports on the development of blood clots in some recipients of the vaccine, causing several European countries to discontinue its use. The European Union has, however, declared that the vaccine is safe.

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) had earlier dismissed claims of severe side effects relating to the administration of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in the country.

“No Nigerian so far has developed any known severe side effects following vaccination with AstraZeneca vaccine,” it said.
