The crash, which was said to have been caused by brake failure in the fuel- laden tanker involved five cars, two motorcycles and three tricycles, all of which went up in flames in the ensuing inferno.

Mr Ajibulu In a statement which he personally signed, called on everyone to pray for the soul of dead, and against the recurrence of such tragedies.
His words ” It was indeed a black Wednesday in Kogi state. The loss of lives, property and businesses as a result of the accident is both painful and regrettable”.
“I want to express deep condolences to the government of Kogi as well as families that lost their loved ones in the accident, including five students of the Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP), Lokoja and young school pupils
“I identify with them at this moment of grief and pray that the almighty God will console them,” he said
Ajibulu also expressed worry over the spate of trailer-related accidents in the country, saying safety checks on these trailers must be sacrosanct before they are allowed to ply the roads.
Only this, according to him will save the country from the avoidable accidents trucks and tankers are causing on the roads.
“It causes me great pain when we have accidents involving trucks and tankers in the country, making us to lose lives unnecessarily”.
“It is high time we carry out strict security checks on these trailers before they are allowed to ply our roads. Those that failed to meet with the required standards should be taken off the roads” he said.
