Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspects for their involvement in armed robbery and receiving stolen goods.

The arrest was confirmed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
The suspects included Idris Mohammed (19), Nasiru Abdulhamid (24), Sunusi Ibrahim (27) and Bashir Yunusa (25), all of Tishama, Hotoro Quarters, who participated in the armed robbery.
Also apprehended was the receiver of the robbed items, Rabi’u Sani, aged 32, and resident in the same quarters with the other four suspects.
Recovered from them were four Plasma television sets and 11 mobile phones, according to SP Kiyawa.
The PPRO disclosed that before the arrest, there had been a ‘Save-Our-Souls’ outcry in the past one month at Tishama Hotoro Quarters, Kano, over the activities of a syndicate of hoodlums that specialized in house breaking and armed robbery.

He said that one Kabiru Tukur reported that the robbers came to his residence twice and dispossessed him of his Plasma TV and four mobile phones.
He added that four other armed robbery cases were recorded in the area, adopting the same mode of operation.
“On the receipt of the reports, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed a team of Operation Puff Adder, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Hotoro Division, CSP Mansur Idris, to arrest the culprits. The team immediately swung into action.
“Sustained efforts, coupled with intelligence-led surveillance patrol, led to the arrest of all the syndicate members,” the police spokesman said.

During investigation, the suspects confessed to all the armed robberies committed in the area, while a discreet Investigation conducted by a team of detectives at the command’s Criminal Investigation Department, led by CSP Ahmed Abdullahi, led to the arrest of the receiver.
The PPRO stated further that the Commissioner of Police had directed a discreet investigation, after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
CP Dikko also commended the effort of the police officers who participated in the investigation, reiterating his determination to dislodge criminals in the state.
“They are advised to either repent or leave the state completely, otherwise, they will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the CP warned.
He thanked the good people of Kano State for their prayers, encouragement, continuous support, and cooperation, while he urged residents to continue to pray for the state and the nation.
The police commissioner advised them to report incidences to the nearest police station, and not take laws into their hands, assuring that rigorous patrol and raids of criminal hideouts and black spots would continue throughout the state.
