The Emirate Council Bill 2019 which was re-submitted to the Kano State of Assembly has been passed into law on Thursday.
The Speaker of the House, Abdulaziz Garba made the announcement at plenary.
The State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in a bid to create additional four emirates (Bichi, Gaya, Rani and Karaye) resubmitted the bill after a high court nullified emirates councils and emirs earlier established in May 2019.
According to the court, due process was not followed in the creation of the emirates and the appointment of emirs.
Now that the resubmitted bill has been passed to law, the State governor is expected to sign the bill immediately to fast-track the creation of the new Emirates.
