All Progressives Congress (APC) National leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov Kayode Fayemi and other aspirants from Southern Nigeria have been included in a shortlist of candidates for the party’s prized 2023 presidential ticket.
This development was made known by Plateau Governor Simon Lilongwe, in Abuja, saying said it was done based on the reality on ground and without bias and sentiments.
Aside Tinubu, other four aspirants in the list include; Kayode Fayemi, Chibuike Amaechi, Prof Yemi Osinbajo , Dave Umahi.
All aspirants in the list are from the South attested the commitment of the Governors to zoning to the region.
The Governor explained that President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the Progressives Governors’ Forum to reduce the number of aspirants and submit their names to the party.

He also said the five aspirants were also advised to discuss among themselves and agree on one candidate.
Recall, the ruling party was engulfed in a major crisis on Monday, June 6, 2022, after the Governors unanimously rejected the announcement of Senate President, Ahmed Lawan as the anointed candidate of the party by the chairman, Adamu.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, in a terse statement shortly after, hammered Adamu warning that he should not engage in a ‘Dangerous Frolic’ adding that ‘power must shift to the south’.
