A wave of protests has swept across Kano State in the aftermath of the Appeal Court’s decision to remove Governor Abba Yusuf from office.
The demonstrations, which erupted on Wednesday, have seen angry residents block roads and set bonfires in a clear display of their disapproval of the court’s ruling.
Recall that the Appeal Court had sacked Yusuf on the premise that he was not a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) during the last governorship election in the state.
The court had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Gawuna, winner of the governorship election.
However, there was confusion over the judgment as the court asked concerned lawyers to return certified true copies of its judgment for corrections.
The certified true copies of the judgement indicated that the court upheld Yusuf’s victory.
