Control TV Reports that the Adamawa REC was reportedly attacked by the suspected thugs for declaring the APC candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani as the winner of the election without collating results.
His actions had stoked controversy in the state’s governorship election on Sunday after the bizzare declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani, as the winner of the supplementary governorship election.
His announcement elicited protests from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) present at the state collation centre in Yola.
Also, in a statement by its National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) said the process had not been concluded.
It added that the action of the REC was a usurpation of the powers of the state Returning Officer (RO) and was therefore null, void and of no effect.
