Former Nigerian athlete and Sports Administrator, Brown Ebewele, is dead.
Time indeed can do so much in what may seem a long time.
Coach Brown I call him. Others like to call him coach Ebewele, but he was popular with the name ‘Juju man’,
As a young athlete he told me You will go far, I like the speed at which you are developing… he said it strictly as a professional. These words he said to me during the National Sports Festival at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city EDO state many years ago.
He was pure and genuine in his way every encouraging.
He will say to me, Nduka Awazie, Joseph Mathew, who ran the 400m sprint event how we will become the next sweet sensation in Athletics.
And we did at different levels.
I remember Coach Brown with a smile that he stood for what’s right always.
He passed on to greater glory on Friday in Warri.
Go well Coach. We shall miss you greatly.
