The British high commission has urged the Nigerian Federal Government to thoroughly investigate the killings of unarmed citizens protesting against police brutality at the Lekki Toll Plaza and also other similar incidents.
The High Commission made this statement on Monday via it’s verified tweeter handle.
The commission also noted that the United Kingdom is working with stakeholders to ensure justice is served.
The tweet read, “We remain concerned by acts of looting and violence in Flag of Nigeria and urge security services use restraint as order is restored.
“Working with all stakeholders, judicial panels of inquiry must investigate all incidents, including #Lekki, and ensure accountability for crimes.”
The Lekki incident attracted global outrage with local and international civil rights organisations and personalities condemning the attack.
Various State Government has set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to look into the incident and grievances of victims, while calling on the public to come forward with memoranda for discussion.
