The Zamfara State Government has cleared the air on reports of killings, saying that there was no casualty as being reported.

Control TV relied on eyewitness  reports of no fewer than 50 people allegedly killed in Maradun, the Birth Place of the Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Governor of the state.

Bello Mohammed Matawale, Governor of Zamfara State

However, In a press statement signed by Zailani Bappa, Special Adviser Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications to the state government, no killings took place in the state as Control TV reported.

It said instead,  there was a successful operation by the Security operatives in Maradun Local Government Area who got reliable intelligence report indicating that “unscrupulous villagers were hiding bandits in their homes which were successfully fished out with precision”. The statement said.

” It must be made clear that no innocent civilian casualties were recorded in the operation. However, in their haste to report lies and ridicule the government and security operatives, these media twisted the incident in their reports to favour those who are against the peaceful existence of Zamfara state.

Control TV had relied on eye witness submissions to report the Alleged attacks. We here in correct the publication and by no means intend to tarnish the image of the state.

The state government has advise all media organisations to be wary of falling easily into the hands of disgruntled and unpatriotic elements when it comes to the issue of security in Zamfara state,

The Zamfara State government has through its publication re-echoed it’s resolve to keep, sustain and build on the gains it has made in bringing permanent peace to Zamfara State.
