The Federal Government has condemned the attack on Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia by Nigerians living in that country describing it as “deplorable and disgraceful”.
On Thursday, a video clips emerged online of some persons protesting and destroying property on the premises of the embassy in Indonesia.
The protesters trooped into the embassy, broke windows, pulled down the Nigerian flag and vandalised a bus that was parked within the premises.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed the attack in a tweet on his official handle
Onyeama described the actions as criminal and said the federal government will do everything in its capacity to find the perpetrators.
He wrote:
“Absolutely deplorable and disgraceful criminal behaviour by Nigerian hooligans who without justification attacked the Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia today,” he said in a tweet.
“Every effort will be made to identify them and see they are severely punished. Totally unacceptable behaviour.”
