Fuel Subsidy: FG Plan Additional Provisions In 2022 Budget To Cushion Impact Of Removal

Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning Zainab Ahmed says the Federal Government planning to make additional provisions for fuel subsidy in the 2022 budget.

Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning disclosed this on Monday at a meeting with the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and the minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Senate President Lawan who convened the meeting appealed to Labour to sheath its sword as planned strike at this time will hurt the nations economy.

His position was supported by Timipre Sylva the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

Also present were representatives of oil companies, and this coming amid the controversy over the removal of fuel subsidy by the government.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress has warned the Federal Government against planned removal of fuel subsidy in 2022, saying the action will be met with a nationwide protests.

It said the Congress planned rallies will commence without warning should the federal government announce new fuel prices ahead of scheduled protest rallies in all the states of the federation.

The protest is slated for January 27, 2022, and would culminate in the submission of protest letters to all the 36 state governors.
