Reports of alleged brutal killing of a young male in Ugheli in Delta State.
The Police Commands spokes person explained that a white Lexus car similar to a scenario weeks ago where a woman and her two kids were kidnapped prompted the police to be on hot porsuite of the car that zoomed off on sighting the SARS Operatives.
She said the operatives caught up with them an apprended them. On their way to the police station one of them jumped out of the moving police vehicle and fell injuring himself. A mob approached the seen and the police had no choice than to leave in order to avoid a vicious confrontation that could turn fatal.
Corroborating the police, the Minister of State, Labour & Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, confirmed the incident to Control TV.
Keyamo who said he contacted the victims brother and the state’s Commissioner of Police, to confirm the incident, emphatically opined that those officers involved in the incident are not SARS but ‘Operation Delta Safe’.
He equally confirmed that the victim was not shot as as earlier reported, but fell out of the Police vehicle when being taken to the station after arrest.
Though the brother insisted that the victim was pushed; but the police confirmed otherwise. “He jumped”, said the commissioner.
Keyamo equally seized the opportunity to condemn the extra-judicial killings by SARS and other Police outfits against defenseless citizens, calling for comprehensive reforms and overhaul of the system.
1) I just spoke with both the Commissioner of Police, Delta State & the Area Commander in Ughelli where the unfortunate incident involving a young man & the Police took place yesterday. I also spoke with Ochuko, the victim’s brother. I was born, bred and raised in that same town
