The Federal Government is concluding plans to set up a data base for skilled and unskilled Nigerian Workers in the country.
Minister of state for labour and employment Festus Keyamo made the announcement while speaking on Control TV flagship News Global.
Mister Keyamo also said information on the progress of the employment exercise costing 60 billion naira will be transparently communicated to Nigerians as often as possible with no ambiguity.
The pace of employment of 774,000 NIGERIANS into the special public works (SPW) program across the 774 local government areas in the 36 States of the federation and the federal capital territory FCT Abuja began 3weeks ago.
States are given full autonomy to expedite the process and are moving at different pace according to the him.
He said “ we are going to be having weekly updates, Nigerians are going to be aware of what we are doing on a weekly basis, there will also be pictural evidence”.
He also disclosed that out of 36 States only benue state and Gombe state were yet to be flagged off.
He also added that the president was fully involved in the development of the program.
“As I speak to you now I have received a memo from the president, the president is so concerned and anxious about this vision, a clinical vision to lift 100 million people out of poverty in the next 10 years.
Mr President has directed me through the MD to ensure that we come up within the next few days with some clear gestures a program that would impact clearly all Nigerians and we are achieve this aim of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
He also stressed the importance of having a functioning database.
“The special public work spw program is keen on gathering adequate database in order to register eligible members to benefits in the program throughout the country. He said.
