A group leading the push for #EndSARS protest against police brutality Feminist Coalition has announced the end of donations in support of the protest and its plan going forward.
This development comes after the President’s address on Thursday 22nd October 2020, in which he urged the EndSars protesters to Put an End to the protest as their plight has been heard.
The group was formed in July 2020 with a mission to champion equality for women in Nigerian society with a core focus on education, financial freedom and representation in public office.
The group made up of journalist Kiki Mordi, Ozzy Etomi, Laila Johnson-Salami among others announced the end of donations and protest in a statement dated October 22.
They condemn the recent violence and believe no Nigerian life is worth losing, They commiserated with people who lost loved ones, adding that the dead should be recognized as heroes.
They added that the rest of the EndSars donations would go to other use such as “funding medical emergencies, legal aid for wrongfully detained citizens, and relief for victims of police brutality and families of the deceased.”
The Coalition further emphasised that donations for the EndSars protest will no longer be accepted going forward.
