Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola on Sunday discovered a camera at the scene of the shooting in Lekki area of Lagos.
The Minister discovered the device while on tour of the Lekki toll gate where #EndSARS protesters demonstrated for 13 days before men in military uniform opened fire on them.
The minister and governors from the South-West made an on-the-spot assessment of some of the places vandalised during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest.
It was gathered that Fashola picked up the device with a handkerchief and handed it over to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“I think this will help with the ongoing investigations into the shootings at the Lekki toll gate. It requires forensic analysis and could be used in the investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the shootings at the Toll Gate, I believe,” Fashola was quoted to have said.
The minister added that the device must have been planted by “some subversive elements”.
The number of casualties at the Lekki shooting has remained contentious.
Meanwhile, a judicial commission of inquiry will on Monday begin investigating the Lekki shooting. The commission will probe the CCTV at the Lekki toll gate.
