The member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Evang. David Ogewu FCAI concludes thank-you tour of the twenty-three Council Wards of the Constituency. In a carnival-like reception organized by the various Council Wards to receive their Representative, as Hon. Ogewu appreciates the constituents for their show of love as expressed in the 2023 General Elections and for the support he’s been receiving from them after the elections.
He informed them of his appointment as Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army and membership of several other Standing Committees of the Lower Chamber of National Assembly. He reminded them of his promise to make a difference within his first eight (8) months of stay in office and that God is helping him to live up to his target. Hon. Ogewu used the opportunity to reel-out his achievement within his ten (10) months in office. He mentioned:

– Motion on communal clashes in the Constituency and the need to establish a military base in the Constituency;
– Motion on incessant kidnappings and armed robbery along Otukpo – Obarike road and prayer for regular patrol of the road by security operatives;

He hinted that, while the bills have passed first reading, all the motions were adopted by the House and action taken on a number of them already.
Rt. Hon. Ogewu, therefore appealed to his constituents to keep praying for the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tarjudeen Abbas PhD and the executive governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia PhD, for their love and benevolence to Igede nation.
He says without these leaders, Igede wouldn’t have had all that she benefitted in the last ten (10) months. He charged the constituents to shun violence and all its appearance; avoid things that divide them and embrace those things that breed unity among the people. He announced that his empowerment programs would come in the coming months therefore, requests women and youths to prepare themselves ahead of the program. He uses the occasion to dispel the insinuations in some quarters that he is at loggerheads with Igede Intermediate Area Traditional Council; insisting that he only has disagreement with three (3) Traditional Rulers over Igede Agba 2023 celebration and reiterates his willingness to work with everyone that has interest of Igede at heart.
Responding on behalf of the various Council Wards, speaker after speaker applauded Rt. Hon. David Ogewu FCAI for deeming it fit to return to thank them, likening it to the story of biblical lepers that only one out of ten returned to give thanks after ten of them were healed (Luke 17:12-19). They lauded Ogewu’s giant strides within a very short time and assured him of their continued support. They rain blessings upon blessings on their darling leader and place curse on anyone that plans evil against him. They decry lack of infrastructural facilities such as roads, electricity, portable water, unemployment and high level of poverty and hunger.
As it’s his culture, he gave palliative offers to Widows and less privileged, people living with disabilities, elders, youths and women.
Rt. Hon. Ogewu used the occasion to receive numerous supporters to his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) across the Council Wards.
