England will play either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 after securing a famous 2-0 win over Germany at Wembley.
Raheem Sterling opened the scoring 15 minutes from time with Harry Kane grabbing a second before the end, but only after Thomas Muller let a terrific chance go begging for Die Mannschaft.

The first half was enthralling with both sides having good chances to score. Sterling stung Manuel Neuer’s palms early on with a fierce effort from outside the box, while Harry Maguire let a promising headed opportunity go begging.
Timo Werner then had an effort saved before the best opening of the game was squandered by Harry Kane. After the ball broke fortunately to him, the Tottenham man attempted to round the keeper but was unsuccessful. Seconds later the half time whistle was blown.
Soon after the restart Kai Havertz forced Jordan Pickford into a world class save, with the Everton stopper stretching to keep out his fierce drive.
After a lengthy lull, England scored twice in quick succession to book their place in the last eight. First Luke Shaw laid one on a plate for Sterling to tap home. The strike was his third goal in the tournament so far.
Soon after, Muller was put through on goal and looked certain to score – only for the usually clinical forward to drag his shot wide. Germany would be made to rue this missed chance even more six minutes from time when Kane – who had a quiet game overall – headed home substitute Jack Grealish’s cross to make sure of the victory.
England will now take on either Ukraine or Sweden in the quarter-finals. The game will be played on Saturday 3 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
