The two persons nominated by the youths in Lagos to represent them on the judicial panel of inquiry and restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses have been sworn in.
Rinu Oduala and Temitope Majekodunmi were sworn in on Tuesday. They were nominated by youths via online voting.
Ms Oduala and Mr Majekodunmi took their oath alongside the zonal coordinator (south-west zone) of the National Human Rights Commission Lucas Koyejo.
Oduala is a brand strategist and an advocate for social justice while Majekodunmi is an administrator and transformational leader.
They have both been at the forefront of advocacy against police brutality in Nigeria.
The nine-member panel was set up by the state government on October 15 following the mayhem perpetrated by hijackers of the #EndSARS protests.
The panel could not begin sitting on Monday because Oduala and Majekodunmi had yet to be sworn in.
The trio will join chairperson of the panel Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd) and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa on the panel.
Other panellists are the director of Lagos State Directorate of Citizen’s Rights Oluwatoyin Odusanya, a representative of civil society groups Patience Udoh and human rights activist Segun Awosanya aka Segalink.
