Some Men of the Nigerian Police Force Abuja Command, has on Sunday, assaulted a photojournalist attached to Arise TV, leaving him bleeding from his head.
This is coming Barely hours after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammad Adamu, took a decisive step to end police brutality by disbanding the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The photojournalist identified as Francis from Arise News had gone to cover the press briefing where the police chief announced the disbandment of SARS.
In a video making the rounds on various social outlets, A man who identified himself as Ferdinand Duru, a colleague to Francis from Arise News, was heard in the background of the video lamenting the conduct of the policemen.
He said, “This is my Cameramen, Francis…. just about an hour ago we did a press briefing where we took the IG’s message live on Twitter banning SARS, and on returning from that particular interview, we saw some youths along the road (protesting).
“While we were trying to speak to them and get their take on the IG’s message, we were attacked by policemen who brutally assaulted Francis and broke his Camera”. Ferdinand Said.
Mr Francis however been taken to the hospital for appropriate medical attention.
