The Supreme Court will in Abuja today, Monday, January 15, hear the appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state, Patrick Tonye-Cole, against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Siminalayi Fubara
Tonye-Cole had filed an appeal against Mr Fubara arguing he did not resign as Accountant General of the state within the deadline stipulated by the constitution and the Electoral Act
As a result, Tonye-Cole insists Fubara was not qualified to contest the election, let alone be declared winner of the election by INEC.
This among other pleas from the APC candidate, will by considered by the apex court.
