The Bauchi state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Bauchi has upheld the election of the state governor, Bala Mohammed.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, had in a petition before the tribunal, alleged over voting, gross malpractices and irregularities in Bauchi, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro LGAs of the state during the elections.
Abubakar, the immediate past governor of the state, asked the tribunal to declare him winner of the March 9 election which was concluded on March 23 with a supplementary election.
Delivering judgment on Monday, the chairman of the three-member panel, Justice Salihu Shuaibu, dismissed the petition by the APC and its candidate.
Justice Shuaibu ruled that the petition brought by both against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Bala Mohammed lacks merit.
The judge said that the petitioners failed to prove their petition beyond reasonable doubt.
“I hereby rule that the election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Bala Mohammed is valid,” he declared.
