The All Progressives Congress (APC) of National Assembly caucus from Edo State has demanded immediate removal of the Domingo Obende as Chairman, APC Registration Committee for Niger State.
The call was contained in a statement signed by the leaders of the caucus representing the Edo North Senatorial District, Francis Alimekhena, Hon Peter Akpatason, Hon. Johnson Eguakhide and Hon. Julius Ihonvbere on Sunday.
The party noted that Obande is not its member as he had been suspended by his Ward for his anti-party activities before “he decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).”

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to the inclusion of Domingo Obende as Chairman, APC Registration Committee for Niger State.
“We consider this a grave and provocative error that is capable to derailing and mortgaging the entire exercise if not urgently redressed.
“Domingo Obende is NOT a member of the APC. He was suspended by his Ward for persistent anti-party activities before he decamped to the PDP. In the last gubernatorial election he worked openly and actively against the APC.
“We are shocked to note that our national secretariat could make such an error. This must be because the leadership structure in the State was not carried along. It also explains why there is an undemocratic concentration of Committee membership in one senatorial district to the detriment of the other two districts.
“A party’s strength in largely in how it carries its structures, leadership and members along. It must avoid grave errors that are capable of encouraging anger, frustration, apathy even decamping.
:Our members in Edo, still frustrated by the grand conspiracy against the party at the last gubernatorial election, are now left wondering as to the meaning of this signal with Domingo Obende’s selection.
“We call on the Interim National Working Committee to reverse this nomination of Domingo Obende immediately in the interest of the Party.”
