The untimely death of a toddler a few days ago ran shivers through the spine of every reader of a rather horrific story of a child whipped by a caregiver resulting in the baby’s death.
The Delta State Government is not letting go of this one as the Governor Ifanyi Okowa has ordered the school be shut down for investigation
The Primary school In Asaba Delta State has a bad name over its head for the crime in which 19-month-old Obina Udeze was brutally whipped by a teacher Emeka Nwogbo, who reportedly leaving marks on his body.
The child was reported to have fallen sick since the bitten happened and was subsequently taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he gave up the ghost on Saturday morning.
The Delta State Commissioner for Basic Education Chika Ossai while talking to newsmen in Asaba today said that the school has no certification or approval from the state Government to operate saying the government’s decision to seal up the affected institution is because the proprietor does not have an operational licence.
Meanwhile, the accused teacher is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing.
