Chelsea Legend, Didier Drogba has been announced as the winner of the UEFA President Award at the ceremony of the UEFA body on October 1, 2020, after which the draw will be held in Nyon, Switzerland.
The former Chelsea and Ivory Coast forward has been hailed by UEFA President, Aleksander Čeferin as a “leader and pioneer” and for his “commitment to excellence on and off the pitch.”
Drogba won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2012
“Didier is a hero to millions of football fans for his achievements throughout his glittering playing career. He is a leader – a pioneer”, UEFA President said.
“I will remember him as a player for his skill, strength, and intelligence, but above all for his insatiable appetite to succeed – a trait which is just as present in his desire to help others off the field of play,” Čeferin added.
